Description

A fine pair of Chinese export porcelain lobed dishes, Kangxi period (1662–1722), each painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a central scene of a Long Eliza (Lange Lijs) figure in a garden setting, surrounded by radiating panels alternating floral sprays, flowering shrubs and standing court ladies. The scalloped, lobed rims and crisp drawing are characteristic of the late Kangxi reign. The reverse of each dish bears a jade-green Kangxi reign mark. Both dishes in very good honest condition, retaining a bright glaze and well-preserved cobalt; no restoration. Diameter: approx. 18 cm.
